The Verzasca is a 30-km long mountain river originating at Pizzo Barone and flowing into Lake Maggiore. It is known for its clear turquoise water and vibrant colored rocks, as well as its treacherous currents. The Verzasca Dam is a few kilometers upriver from this lake.
Geography
The Verzasca River valley is in Ticino, the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Chestnut trees thrive at the bottom of the valley. Its water is crystal clear, and the depth does not exceed 10 meters. Its average temperature is 7 - 10 °C.
