Japan In The 1950's By Herb Gouldon

"Herb and Fay rented a house in nearby Ft. Lauderdale. Herb had a great schedule while stationed in Boca Raton. He was scheduled to fly every other day from 0600 to 1200. He and Fay spent a lot of time on the beach. On October 25, 1945, Herb received an honorrable discharge at Griener Field in Manchester, New Hampshire. He then transferred to the reserves."
After his discharge, Herb Gouldon returned home Jackson Heights with Fay. There he decided to finish college at New York University under the G.I.Bill. Herb was able to complete a bachelor of science degree in foreign marketing. He put his studies to quick use with Kohorn, a company that specialized in rayon fiber. Herb also remained in the Air Force Reserves and became the "department manager of the V.I.P. motor pool."
After several years, Herb joined a process engineering company that built refineries. He was first sent to Japan to manage the company's Far East operations in Osaka. During his five years there, his three young children (two boys and a girl) became fluent in Japanese. From Japan, Herb was sent to London to manage the company's European operations. Other assigments with the company took him and his family to Germany and Hong Kong. Herb finally retired in 1996. He now enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
