Giant USB, Victoria, Australia
|
This is not a photo of a USB cable mess over a dirty carpet. It's a real and completely un-retouched image capture from Google Maps. A satellite view of a small part of Waubra, in Victoria, Australia. It's Waubra Wind Farm, owned by Spanish power company Acciona. The "cables" are the tracks and the "USB" connectors are the foundation of the wind turbines.
The Waubra Wind Farm is located 35 km north-west of Ballarat and was completed in July 2009. It consists of 128 wind turbines, with associated substations and an operations centre. Each wind turbine has a capacity of 1.5 megawatts (MW), providing a total installed capacity of 192 MW.
